Bonnie, a very sharp GodBlogCon 2005 blogger who writes at Off the top and Intellectuelle, has “tagged” me to participate in a new meme. See her own post about it here.
A meme is something like a chain letter that spreads from blogger to blogger until someone starts a new one. Most memes seem to involve lists. This one requires seven answers to seven questions:
- Seven things I’d like to do before I die.
- Seven things I cannot do.
- Seven things that attract me to my wife.
- Seven things I say most often.
- Seven books I love.
- Seven movies I watch over and over again.
- Seven people I want to invite to join this meme.
Seven things I’d like to do before I die:
- visit Scotland
- publish a novel (that’s read beyond my immediate family)
- learn to play the guitar
- sail single-handed to the Caribbean
- discover an underground cavern
- drive a Ferrari at high speeds on a race track
- scatter billions and billions of tumbleweed seeds on the grave of Carl Sagan
Seven things I cannot do:
- play the piano
- yodel (not that I really want to…)

- memorize anything
- eat Hot and Sour soup without slurping
Seven things that attract me to my wife:
- her indefatigable sense of humor
- her smile
- a mind that is never still
- her unwavering faith in God
- her wisdom
- she gets lost in parking lots (it brings out the Boy Scout in me)
- strangely, she loves me
Seven things I say most often:
- You’re kidding!
- Whoa, baby!
- Shoot, I reckon.
- I do not think that word means what you think it means.
- Life is hard, and then you die.
- Vamos a ver.
- My computer hates me.

Thanks for “playing,” Charlie! Your lists are great. Love the tumbleweed thing.
I forgot about “Amadeus;” that should probably be on my list too. (although the movie’s historical accuracy is disputed, I love the way Mozart’s genius & musicality is portrayed.)
Thanks, Charlie! Actually, this was kind of fun…it was my first “tag.” I’m posting my sevens tomorrow.
We’re Hillerman fans, too. 🙂
Is Grand Canyon the one where different peoples lives intersect – there’s a black guy who helps a white guy whose car breaks down in Ingelwood – and they end up standing looking at the Grand Cnayon at the end? because if it is – I LOVED that movie. I raved about it – it really made me think about how we can follow on from connections or not. Truth be told – it came to mind as I made my own list (as did about 5 other movies).
I can touch weeny little spiders but the big jumping ones get half a can of spray dumped on them pronto.
I love the graphic you have for this post!
Thanks for the tag, Charlie–I’m working on it and will soon post!
Christine asked me to join in.
Things To Do Before I Die
Write several books and see them published.
Speak at Writers’ Conferences
See family members come to Christ (this is
actual numero uno!)
Write for national Christian periodicals.
See my boys married with children.
Meet Christine and my other blogger buddies!
Things I Cannot Do
The Word says that I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me (Anna’s paraphrase). In view of this, I will change this to 7 things I don’t want to do!
Ride amusement park rides.
I don’t want to go back to the 9 to 5 grind.
Working in my own business is much nicer.
I don’t want to get so wrapped up in the
“busies” that I forget what’s really
I don’t want to do anything, which will
bring shame and reproach on the name of
Jesus (again, numero uno!).
Climb any literal mountains.
Be on a reality TV show.
Things That Attracted Me to My Spouse
His dedication to the Lord.
His warmth and kindness.
His support of my interests.
His love of the Word and prayer.
His protective nature.
And, of course, his good looks.
Things I Say Most Often
I have no clue
Responding to God is good – ALL THE TIME!
Sorry, just can’t think of another.
Books I Love
Anything by Frank Peretti (spelling?)
Anything by Townsend & Cloud (Boundaries, etc.)
America’s Real War (by Rabbi Daniel Lapin)
Anne of Green Gables
The Little Women Series
Little House on the Prairie series (it’s
still a favorite after all these years).
Movies I’ve Watched Over and Over
A Walk In the Clouds (classic chick flick)
The Sound of Music
These are the only ones I’ve watched multiple times. I’m not much of a movie buff.
People I want to join in.
I know the same people in the blog world as Christine.
