Bonnie at Spiritual Woman has a nice post on Proverbs 8:22-31 that she calls The Power of Love. The relationship between God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is eternal. If current evidence is being correctly understood, the universe is perhaps 14 billion years old, and Jesus and the Holy Spirit were present with God at the very beginning—in fact, before the beginning of the material universe, time and history.
The Proverbs passage suggests that Jesus participated in creation with God, a fact that is implied in Genesis and stated plainly in the New Testament. But what Proverbs makes plain is the joy that Christ found in his fellowship with God, and the delight he took from the very beginning in God's creation of the human race. The love of Christ for us goes back beyond the beginning of all time.
